Coaching & leadership development with Penny Wallace

Coaching with Penny Wallace – What to expect

Coaching contexts and clients are all so very different, but rest assured every coaching client receives a bespoke coaching plan based upon their very specific needs. Coaching might be experienced face to face, or through online sessions.

We always begin with a 2-3 hour session that explores your context, career and development history, understanding further insight to personality and objectives for coaching. Typically, clients will enjoy some immediate insights and practical strategies to try out straight away.

From here, you will determine your coaching framework with a suggested overview of number of sessions and frequency. We might also identify that further personality profiling or 360-degree feedback would add value to the mix, and plan that into our approach.

Throughout all sessions, Penny takes plenty of notes. This leaves you free to relax and talk, safe in the knowledge that all helpful elements are being captured. Shortly after your session, you’ll receive an email overview, outlining our insights, coaching plan and objectives, actions and strategies to try out, alongside further resources that may help further.

Lasting approximately 2 hours, you’ll begin with an initial check-in for news and updates since the previous session that helpfully updates our context.   There may be fresh challenges emerging between sessions which you can always bring to any coaching conversation.  Next, a focus on the agreed priority objectives, exploring root causes and practical strategies, before summarising and planning.

Once again, you’ll receive that helpful follow up email with all insights, recommendations and further resources to help keep you focused and to remind you of our development path.  As you progress through your coaching sessions, there will always be a check in with the coaching plan, adapting timings, frequency and number of sessions when appropriate.

" An iterative experience which matures over multiple sessions. You have a strong sense that Penny is invested in you as a person and not just as a professional”.

Penny has a strict code of practice and ethics around her coaching support:

  • Her priority is always coachee first.
  • Confidentiality parameters are agreed up front. Unless otherwise requested by the coachee, sessions and insights remain completely confidential between the coachee and the coach.
  • Penny only provides coaching sessions where there is a need and a value to the client.
  • She will never create dependency, nor will she add unnecessary sessions for the sake of profit.

Every client is different, with a varied set of priorities and development objectives. Moreover, once you get moving with coaching sessions, it’s possible to discover that the objectives may be a little different to those first imagined as we become more familiar with the context, or as new challenges emerge in our daily lives.

Penny believes in identifying the core opportunities, being smart with our time and development focus, enabling the greatest level of value to emerge from your time. We work on understanding root causes and working through those, rather than ticking a lot of symptoms.
